Compact module with MEMS-FPI spectrum sensor and light source

This compact module has a built-in light source, control circuit, and MEMS-FPI spectrum sensor consisting of an InGaAs PIN photodiode and MEMS-FPI (Fabry-Perot Interferometer) tunable filter which can vary its transmission wavelength by changing the applied voltage. Spectrum and absorbance can be measured by connecting a PC via USB. The product includes evaluation software  with  functions  for  setting  measurement  conditions,  acquiring and  saving data, drawing graphs, and so on. Furthermore, the dynamic link library (DLL) function specifications are disclosed, so users can create their original measurement software programs.

High sensitivity in the near infrared region (to 1050 nm), ultra-compact grating type spectrometer

The C14384MA-01 is an ultra-compact grating type spectrometer head that provides high sensitivity in the near infrared region.  As such, it is capable of acquiring continuous spectrum. The head has been downsized through Hamamatsu unique optical design, which helps to further reduce the size of mobile devices.

The C15511-01 Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) engine is compact enough to carry in just one hand. A Michelson optical interferometer and control circuit are built into a palm-sized enclosure. Spectrum and absorbance can be measured by connecting a PC via USB. It can be applied to real-time measurement performed on site without bringing the measurement sample into the analysis room as well as continuous monitoring.

The optical interferometer has a built-in light input section, beam splitter, fixed mirror, movable mirror (ϕ3 mm), and photodetector. The photodetector acquires light intensity signals that vary depending on the position of the movable mirror.   The optical spectrum is obtained by processing (Fourier transform) these light intensity signals.

The FTIR engine has a built-in semiconductor laser (VCSEL: vertical cavity surface emitting laser) for monitoring the movable mirror position, which allows spectrum measurement with high wavelength accuracy.

The product includes evaluation software with functions for setting measurement conditions, acquiring  and  saving  data, drawing graphs, and so on. The C12666MA is an ultra-compact (Finger-tip size) spectrometer head developed based on our MEMS and image sensortechnologies. The adoption of a newly designed optical system has achieved a remarkably small size, less than half the volume of the previous mini-spectrometer MS series (C10988MA-01). In addition, the employment of hermetic packaging has improved humidity resistance.
This product is suitable for integration into a variety of devices, such as integration into printers and hand-held color monitoring devices that require color management. It is also suitable for applications that collaborate with portable devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

The mini-spectrometer TF series is a polychromator provided in a compact, thin case that houses optical elements, image sensor, and driver circuit. Spectrum data can be acquired by guiding measurement light into a mini-spectrometer through an optical fiber and transferring the measured results to a PC via the USB connection. The incorporation of a high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor maintains high sensitivity equivalent to that of a CCD and achieves low power consumption. Moreover, the trigger
function that can be used for short-term integration enables spectroscopic measurement of pulse emissions.

The MS series are thumb-sized (27.6 × 16.8 × 13 mm) spectrometer heads developed for installation into mobile measurement equipment by merging our MEMS and image sensor technologies.
The MS series uses a CMOS image sensor integrated with a light receiving slit. The internal optical system is comprised of a convex lens on which a grating is formed by nanoimprint.
The result is a remarkably small size less than one-third the volume of the RC series mini-spectrometers that have already been marketed.

Mini-spectrometers are compact spectrometers (polychromators) whose optical system, image sensor, and circuit are condensed into a small case.
Previous spectroscopic instruments used in the chemical analysis field and the like have been typically large and expensive. In contrast, mini-spectrometers are compact and portable, making it possible to take real-time measurements on-site, rather than having to bring in measurement samples into a room in which a spectroscopic instrument is installed.
This miniaturization also made it possible to incorporate them into various types of equipment. They are used in environmental measurement instruments, color measurement instruments, production lines, information devices and so on.
